AT THE TURN OF THE YEAR

Years ago, before I had a computer (the time one had to go to the library to do research) I made a series of collages for a calendar, one for every month. The calendar was never made but I want to show a few images from it by way of concluding this year. It seems appropriate to chose ‘December’ and ‘January’.  These images started as straight collages but later paint, ink and photoshop intervened. As usual, you can see the image larger by clicking on it.

December (10 ½ by 8 ½ inches)

January (20 by 17 inches)

Below some details from those images:

To those who read this, I wish a wonderful year. And lots of luck, you may need it. The future looks kind of scary. To stress that, whatever happens, we’ll always have the consolation of beauty, I leave with the following image from the same period (mid-nineties). And now, I’m off to Peru.

Consolation ( 20 by 11 ½ inches).

these three are great. particularly like the roseate spoonbill echoing the woman, and the facial expressions in january. the motion and depth in december and the beauty and instant emotion in consolation.
